The home owner Lizzie Carney, painted every wall in her home a charcoal grey! She believes that small spaces don't need to be painted light colors to make them appear larger...that painting small spaces darker colors actually creates the feel of "endless space". She also likes to add dramatic pieces took make her rooms look more "grandeur".
She really inspired me by turning her second bedroom into a huge walk in closet! (her "dressing area") Sorry mom and dad, I actually considered converting my guest room into something like this! (especially since my old house doesn't have a very big master closet). But I won't...at least not until the kids are gone!
And look, do you see that pink ottomon? She covered it in pink denim from Walmart! Now wait, how come I have never seen pink denim at Walmart? I need to start shopping at her Walmart.
As far as dressing goes, she says wear a fancy dress, even if you have no place to go! I like that (as long as it is comfortable). How many things in our closet go unworn because we need to "save" them for a special day?
By the way, I love the name gray!~I always have. My sister gave her little girl the middle name Gray. It is a family name.
I love how she painted her home gray, and I do think it adds depth, but I still think all of the white in my home makes my smaller rooms look larger. (with the exception of my black ceiling here.) Maybe it depends on the room and the architecture of the home. What do you think?
OK you have got me hooked on gray!!
ReplyDeleteYour niece's room now this!

Hi Jane,
ReplyDeleteThe article/photos are from Country Living magazine. I think it was from October 2010.
Glad you like it too!
