meet jane

Let me introduce you to jane.  You're going to see a lot of jane.  She will be modeling my thrift store/yard sale jewelry and some of my other fun accessories that I have created or remade with little or no money.  I'm hoping she will inspire you to look at the endless possiblities for finding or rediscovering new ways  to wear what you already have in your jewelry box or closet.  jane herself came from the thrift store for $14.99.  I found her last year and just had to bring her home.  I have no idea where she came from.  Here is jane in all her glory...

Here is Jane sporting a pendant I found at the thrift store for 50cents.  I can tell it is vintage, and it came on a long chain.  I didn't like the long chain (even though they seem to be in style now) so I put it on a shorter chain that I already had.  This is how it looked before...

and here is how I wear it now...

By the way, this tank came from the thrift store for $2.99.  I wear it under a lot of my outfits,.

Do you know what this is?  Wooden Christmas tree garland that I've had for years.

I measured how long I wanted it, snipped the cording the beads were threaded on, took a few beads off, and then retied it to make this...

And a bracelet to go along with it!  I have made several necklaces out of this LONG strand of beads!  Take a trip to the thrift store or  look around your house.  See what you can make!  It's fun!

  1. I am so in love with dress form and how you dress her up. I have one that is decked out with a pumpkin head and black wings and a cape for Halloween, my favorite holiday!

  3. You're joking!!!! I swear, I look at jewelry and think "this would be good bling for candles or holiday decorating" but never the other way around. You are brilliant!!!! Love this! Thanks so much for linking to the fun party.

  6. Why Jane is so stylish. My "lady" stands in my living room wearing a vintage dress and hat. She even has an old beaded purse pinned to her hip. I have always wanted to make her into a floor lamp so her can really light up the room.
