A little bit of pink and Etsy shop SALE!

This post is brought to you by the color pink.  :)  Even though I love blue, I like to have just a little bit of pink sprinkled here and there throughout my house. I think a little goes a long way, though.  So, last year, I found this old shadow box in my house that I picked up at hobby lobby years ago.  I mixed up my favorite pink shade with craft paints, painted it, and then distressed it with sandpaper.

I got out some old scrapbook paper that I picked up at a really cool antique shop, and sketched a vintage cruiser with a basket full of peonies and daisies.  It looks cute up on top of my piano!  Along with my yard sale peonies, it adds just another little *pop* of pink.  I sure wish I would have bought the other peony arrangement at that yard sale...(they had two).  I debated, and then decided just to buy the one.

Anyway, this year, I loved it so much that I decided to create another one for my etsy shop...Right now, it's on sale for $14.99.  Lately, I've been selling a lot of my art on ebay!  Like this birds nest painting...

I have a few other pieces on sale in my shop also.

In other news, I tried out a recipe that I had pinned from pinterest for Mongolian Beef.  It was a big hit with my teenage boys!  Here is the Recipe if you would like it.

Have a great day!

Birds Nests & laundry rooms

It is finally time to update the laundry room.  It has been the most neglected room in my house, (decorating wise), and yet one of the most functional.  It hasn't been painted since we moved in, and the walls were really in bad shape.  It was just not something that I have had a strong desire to tackle.  However, when I bought some cute baskets to put on the shelves, and they started to give way, I knew it was time.  Who knew that they weren't anchored into the studs?  So, my husband took the shelves down, and I got to work, prepping the walls and painting.  On a whim, I painted the ceiling blue, and I'm hoping to finish painting the white walls and shelves today. Then my husband can put the shelves back up, and I can start organizing and decorating again. (pictures soon!)

While I was painting yesterday, a couple of Robins wandered toward the window, looking curiously at me...their orange bellies so huge.  It seemed like they were wondering where to locate the perfect nesting spot.   Then, I woke up early this morning to get some reading done.  While I read, I kept hearing rustling noises outside my front window... I'm convinced it was a mommy robin hopping through the crunchy leaves while gathering the goods to make her nest!  Happy Spring!

Meet Matilda~ My cow painting

This is her big debut!  Matilda the cow.  When I went up one weekend this winter to study painting with my friend in Boston, I told her I really wanted to paint a cow, and I wanted her to teach me how to paint more quickly. After the original sketch, I began painting in my typical meticulous way.  After what seemed like only a few seconds, she said, "Move on! Paint a different part!"  She had me flying all over the canvas, and all I could think was, "This is going to be a disaster.  It won't even look like a cow!"...

Raspberry Sign #2

Happy Summer!  BTW, did you notice my raspberry sign in my last post?  It is similar to this one that I made last year.  I was going to list it in my etsy shop, but a friend snatched it up first!  I hand painted the letters on an old fence board that a sweet friend gave to me.  That is a raspberry painting behind the sign!  I painted

Ice CREAM sign

I've been making signs again!  It's so fun to dream up new ideas.  This latest was inspired by these vintage ice cream cups...

You've probably seen them in my etsy shop.  I just love the cream color with the vintage red font and scalloped trim!

Hand Painted Canvases

Good Morning!  I wanted to share these canvases that I painted recently for a custom order.  I thought they turned out pretty cute.  They will go above the towel bars in the little girls' bathroom.  I matched them to their shower curtain and bathroom decor.  The customer lives in a different state, but I was able to google the colors of her bathroom set and send her samples and sketches to make a match.  It was a fun project.  If you are looking for a unique birthday, baby, or housewarming gift, let me know!  I can paint personalized canvases to match any decor, or any ideas that you can dream up.

Have a great day!

pencil drawings~ birds nest

IMG_5720

I've been getting back to the basics with my art lately... taking a slight detour from painting,
to get back into simple pencil drawings. Did you see my farm pig drawing in my etsy shop? I also
sold this similar set.

Recently I drew this bird's nest on vintage scrapbook paper, and framed it in a distressed turquoise frame.
(I listed it in my etsy shop, but it was quickly snatched up by my sister in law!)  I really like it, and have
plans to make more.

There is something so beautiful and simple about pencil drawings.  I have some other ideas in mind, and will share
when they come to fruition!
