The mayflower

Wow!  47 of you commented on my imitation of Pottery Barn's Mayflower centerpiece!  I loved reading all of your comments so much, and I appreciated the features I received on so many of your amazing, creative blogs.  One of my favorite comments was from Gwen of Gwenny Penny~she used my tutorial to come up with her own fabulous version of the mayflower. (click on read more below this photo to see what Gwen did!)  By the way, can you imagine actually traveling on the Mayflower?

I think Gwen made an even better replica of Pottery Barn's version than I did.  She used sheets of stiffened felt for the hull of the boat.  I wanted to use felt, but I could not figure out how to make it work!  She did a beautiful job.  Read all about it here at Gwenny Penny! (don't you love the name of her blog?)

I especially like her sails, and how she added a dowel to the bottom of them as well.  Thanks for sharing, Gwen!  I'm looking forward to Gwen's "Haul out the Holly party" starting November 29th!
