Vintage Christmas Linens

                                                                                                          photos~country living

I've been collecting vintage Christmas tablecloths for the past couple of years.  There is just something about them that I love.  Maybe it is the bright colors that attract me to them, or the simplicity of red and white together ~a favorite color combination.  Maybe it is the story that each linen tells of joyful family gatherings gone by.~Especially during a time when the holidays seemed less commercialized.

There is a great article from Country Living about vintage linens that you can read all about here.
The author, Anne Marie Cloutier, writes,

"Christmas cloths added merriment to family celebrations from the 1930s through the late 1970s. And in the 21st century, the vibrant appeal of these table covers remains undimmed.

The scarcity of holiday cloths is what makes them more valuable."

This is my collection...

I've picked them up at antique stores, yard sales, and thrift stores.  I even bought one on a holiday home tour!  It is such a thrill to set the table with them each year!  Do you collect vintage linens?
