Was it worth $7.99?

I started collecting new and vintage lanterns last year.  My latest find is this "new" one that I picked up at the thrift store.  It cost $7.99, which I thought was a little high, but I bought it anyway.  I thought that it resembled these more expensive ones from Pottery Barn that start around $40...

Of course, theirs look especially beautiful with the professional photography set up.  Regardless, I like the Pottery Barn ones better.  What do you think?  Was it a good deal, or should I have passed on this one?  Would you have bought it?
