I saw a beautiful, white iron crib at a yard sale for $10.00. I'm sure they thought I was crazy, but I said I would take the frame, and leave the mattress. They were so kind, they disassembled it for me while I was looking at other sales in the neighborhood. Honestly, I didn't know what I would do with it for sure, but it was so pretty.
I decided to put one end of the crib frame in my front yard on a little hill behind my potted impatiens (sorry the photo turned out kind of fuzzy)...
With the other end of the crib, and the sides, I made a little backdrop and fence in my blackberry garden.
(Before i show you a better photo of it, I wanted to show you another yard sale find. It was a big slab of marble. I brought it home and decided to make it into a bench by putting some cinder block under it and then putting it in front of the crib frame.)
(sorry again, about the fuzzy photo. By the way, the pedestal is from a yard sale too!)
There is some parsley growing to the right of my bench, and some wild strawberries creeping in. I think the crib frame makes a nice backdrop and is a good focal point for the back of the garden. Do you have any other ideas of what could be done with the crib frame? Perhaps inside the house???
It looks great! My mom just picked up a twin headboard from someone's trash (it looks similar to your crib, with the scroll work) and stuck in in her garden. It looks so pretty! Great minds think alike!
ReplyDeleteWhat a clever idea! I just love it!

Lisa over at Serendipity Chic Design used one of the side rails of a vintage crib as a magazine rack in her bathroom. She actually hung it from the ceiling so it hung down the wall to the side of the toilet. It was genius! I really love it in the garden too! Great find!!
