Simple Valentine’s Day T-shirt
Here is a fun little way to embellish a plain white t-shirt. Look in your fabric stash for a remnant, or stop by the fabric store for a piece of red fabric. I happened to use sequined fabric, because what little girl doesn't love sparkly hearts?
Fold a piece of paper in half, and cut out a heart the size you would like to appear on the shirt. (Remember how to cut out half a heart from a folded piece of paper?) That will be your pattern. Use the pattern to cut out a heart in the fabric.
If you are not using a heavy weight fabric, you will want to iron on a piece of fusible web (like Wonder-Under) first. For a complete tutorial on how to do this step, check out this link. Then, place the fabric heart onto the t shirt, and pin into place. Sew around the edge of the heart with a really tight zigzag stitch or a blanket stitch.
And you're done! If you use a cotton fabric, it's okay to let it fray around the edges if you like that look. I happen to. So now you have an upcycled, nearly free, one of a kind, Valentine's Day t-shirt!
